COLTON VALER ARCHERY,ARCHERY,ARCHERY

The sun is out, the snow is melted and archery season is in. One of the most favored competitions by archers, is 3D shoots. There is nothin like heading out to the woods and arrowing any and every animal you can imagine. Plus you are there with friends, family or just complete strangers that share the same passion as you do. I like most archers love to talk about bowhunting and well, archery! So, I wanna hear about the sweet bow you got, any tips or tricks you have or your story of that…

Chris Pike Deer Camp 10

Well problems of last year are gone, new challenges await!!!

Bringing our cousins son with us this year, he wants to give deer camp a try!! Good for him!!!! So youth hunt will be fun watching the older kids teach the new kid.

Bad news front, my good friend and hunting partner passed last week. Hopefully his wife lets us hunt on their land, and I hope she keeps the leases going.

Joseph Nelson Lesson Learned

Last year I started doing my own butchering. Made the mistake of buying a home grade grinder. Motor burned out before it finished its fourth deer. Even my kids interest in helping with the butchering lasted longer than the grinder.

Jake & Sherri Baillie What The Radio Names Are All About

Many years ago, when the camp was first in exsistance, everyone went by their given name. It was the only thing they knew. Then one day the CB radio was invented and mainly used by the truckers on their many hours of travel that they do. As they we becoming popular, somewhere came the idea (probably around a campfire), "why don't we get CB's, install them in our trucks and then that way we could communicate with each other out in the woods?" So the idea became a reality and hunters started… Continue

S. Paul Christ one more weekend

Muzzle loader season ends this weekend in TX. We're heading out to try to shoot a spike or mature buck. Probably won't have much luck. Lots of rain in the area. Now the hogs are a different story. I'd love to take one w/a 360 grain .50cal mini ball. Gonna try our luck. Regardless of the outcome, we expect to take advantage of the long MLK Holiday weekend and come home stinky and muddy. Stand by for pics and details. Peace.

Jake & Sherri Baillie What Was That? By Cabbagehead

The following story was written by a father of his version of what happened the morning of Dec. 31, 2009 when his son Sprout shot at 3 and killed 2 deer. What excitement this must have been!!

Like most mornings, this one started out good. Almost everyone was up for breakfast, answering roll call and making the plan of the hunt. We decided to cast the dogs in two locations, Wimpy headed out for Cemetery Trail and me and Babydoll was casting our three dog pack on Big Oak Road. The chase crew… Continue

Joseph Nelson Wow, what a weekend.

Six inches of snow and bitter cold for opening of Ohio's Muzzleloader Season. Didn't get out until Early afternoon, but by the end of the day the three of us had three does down, including my son's first while hunting as an adult.…

Jake & Sherri Baillie 2009-2010 Tote Your Own Steak & Kangaroo Kourt Night and the Arctic Blast!!

Picture a light snow in the morning, tempatures staying in the low to mid 30's during the day and a cold brisk night with a light snow for the prediction. Well this described Sat. Jan. 9, 2010 for our big night at camp. This may not be anything new to all of you that live north of the Mason Dixon line, but for us Florida Crackers, this was not NORMAL!!! If it gets below 70 degrees, we're cold. Our cook got up, stoked the fire, put a pot of coffee on and got ready to fix a big hot meal for the… Continue

Bob Hartwig Starting the tradition

December 25,2006 our deer camp was started. Hunting in the south Gould city area, in the upper peninsula of michigan, we've done for years without a cabin. It was time to start a tradition. With me in my 40's and my boys 10 and 13 we had alot of work ahead. The site was decided, back in the pines. We put the posts in the ground and a deck on that. The materials were hauled in on a trailor behind the four wheeler. The cabin was built with rough sawn lumber, with the walls being 6-inch D logs.… Continue

Jake & Sherri Baillie Our Toys

Over the years there have been many "toys" that the guys have either bought, enhanced or built to get us around the woods without getting stuck. At least that's what their thinking is. I always refer back to the old say "it's the thought that counts". The main roads are good enough for any vehicle to travel on, it's the roads that go through the blocks and get us deeper in the woods to get to tree stands and cut off dogs that there could be an issue. There are quite a few of us that has 4… Continue

Ryan Simmons I cant wait for shed hunting.

As the hunting seasons here in Iowa begin coming to an end, I clean my guns, wax my bowstrings and put them away until next fall. I can't help but, get excited all over again for shed hunting!! Many hunters forget that their hunting season hasn't totally ended with the last day of the season. Around here mid February is when we start finding shed antlers, this is an enjoyable time of the year. This is the time of year you learn if that huge buck you missed during the rut last season, or the one… Continue

Jake & Sherri Baillie Our Future

Our kids

There is nothing more enjoyable than being a big part in a childs life. We teach them right from wrong, respect and responsibilityand the love of the great outdoors. In this time of modern technology I see more and more kids live indoors in front of the computer or Xbox instead of enjoying Mother Nature and fresh air. I grew up living in the country, hunting with my dad and my parents would have to call me in at dark and to this day still think that's the best life while… Continue
